Learn to Read Symbols

If you do, then a whole new world of patterns open up for you. These symbols are international, so if you get a pattern from Japan or Russia, no problem with the language. I took Crochet Your Way out at my local library, so I know that it is excellant. In fact I am buying it soon. This other one says that the patterns are all done in
symbols. Go here to see the site.

Here is a Crochet Terms Conversion Chart. You can also play with the mouse there, lol. You'll see when you get there. For very bored people or someone who maybe needs a break from the ongoing project? All in all, I had an interesting visit to Nazumi World.com. Then I came across Grannys-Garret symbol crochet page (among other of her pages. Stitch Painter Crochet Symbols is one of the most different and interesting programs that I have run across yet to help the crochet designer that wishes to work in symbols. I found that at Cochenille design studio along with the demos to download (the programs, yes, multiple programs, videos, clip art. I found the What's New area while looking around again just now. Wow. Really worth looking at. I plan to get the My Inspiration Files shown on that page. Here is a blurb about it: " My Inspiration Files is a database tool designed to keep track of your fashion and craft Inspirations by organizing and storing your favorite images and information into one simple-to-use tool. Have fun building an electronic scrapbook loaded with hundreds of entries of images that inspire you. Capture graphics from the web, your digital camera or scan clippings from magazines.
Quickly sort through years of entries with a keyword search. Includes a Starter Set of over 150 annotated Fashion or Apparel and Related Websites. Simply click on the link and away you go! Web List view." It's only $35 on special marked down and with free shipping. Thank goodness, cuz I really want it! I guess you can all tell I am really jazzed about this website. The main idea here is that if you are a designer and don't know about this I really wanted to share it with you. The next program I ran across is called SymblCro. They are calling it a demo version, but since they want feedback it seems more of a beta to me while reading the page the name links to. Here is the home page. I plan on trying this for making small, round thread doilies to work together to make the Long Lacy Cardigan (looks more like a duster to me) from the book I got at Crafters Choice called So Simple Crochet. I was thinking of making the front only waist length and then the back down to my calves. Should look interesting (??) Hope so, lol. I managed to find ONE online site for symbol crochet patterns. The English patterns are here at Garnstudio & Drops Designs . I found an English-Norska-Danska-Svenska-Spanish-French-Tyska-Finska translation page of regularly used crochet words, so if you want to try a pattern from one of those languages-go for it! Make sure to click on the diagram picture that you see on the English pattern pages, the logo looks the same in @ language. Here also is a chart in both Dutch (?) to English of the symbols they are using:
