Attention Knitters!

If you like this pattern
let me know here. I got it free as a leaflet
thinking it was a crochet pattern (so cute),
but found I can't use it. If you want to make
it I will add the directions here for you.
It is an off the shoulder sweater that would
be a great Winter warmer.

Finished my first "wearable"
crochet project

Got done with my first wearable
crochet project! In the past I only
made afghans and baby blankets.
I thought it was all I could do. During
my stint of once again trying to stop
smoking, I picked it up again, this time
using the internet to find patterns and
decided to make REALLY useful things,
especially since the things I found online
I couldn't really afford. So many things are
crocheted now so it is "cool". Tee-hee.
Went to a yard sale and found a box of yarn
for only $5 (smile) and between that and
picking up special yarn for special things,
like the above "Winter Hood"
(if anyone wants to know where I
found the free pattern, leave a comment
and I will put up the url for it). I used
Red Heart, Symphony.Very soft.
Made a couple mistakes, like at row 25
got lost, so faked it, then when I tried it on,
I thought I needed to add more and wished
I hadn't since it was going in another direction,
couldn't use the V stitch or the shell stitch.
So it kind of curls up at the bottom, which
nobody sees since it is worn under a coat.
Also you need to pat down the hood or it puffs
out on one side or the other as you can see.
Also, 25 rows for the hood was a bit much, I ended
up turning it back and tacking it to stay put.
Otherwise it would be around my nose! So if you
make it, check as you go along to make sure the
hood will fit right. After the hood is made, you take
each side and crochet them together to finish
it. I tried to contact the lady who came up with the
directions, but her e-mail address was no good
anymore. I still think it was worth it, I love it.
Now I am starting a hooded scarf. Those
are really nice in cold weather.

CROCHET IS "IN" THIS FALL

It seems that crochet is "in" this Fall.
Hurrah! I have been looking at the
online stores and using crochet as my
keyword in the search option. You
wouldn't believe (or maybe you would, if
you have done the same, or have been to the
mall lately) how many new things are out
that I don't know why we couldn't make them
ourselves.

Crochet thoughts:
Can we put our heads together to crochet this?
It seems to be made of doilies. Now to figure out

how to connect them. Even the sleeves are doilies
and they end up looking like they are scalloped,
as is the collar. I would assume you could use any
doily pattern, easy if you are new to crochet, more
detailed for the more experienced crocheter.
I actually found this at a site for selling at $79 !
If you want to see a larger picture of the duster,
go to www.http://www.newport-news.com and
use the keyword 9QM3625. You can even click
on the picture and make it larger. I don't think
the mercenized cotton would cost that much, do
you? Even if so, you could make this your own
by making the doilies in your favorite pattern
and know that it is made sturdy and with love
and care. I bought a tie-front sweater at a store
I won't mention and already it has had to be
fixed 3x from strings that fell out, just not made
well. I know that the one I am working on myself
won't be like that, after all I am making it myself.
Sure, the price was right, it was on sale for less
than the material would have cost, but getting
tired of sewing it back together.
So, lets hear from you on ideas on how we could

make this ourselves. I have already found a very
easy doily pattern (as I am a beginner) and plan
on starting making lots of doilies as soon as my
sweater is done.
